I've been wanting to make a sock blend with the wonderful and durable Dorset Horn for quite some time and luckily Iron Water Ranch had a wonderful Dorset Horn fleece from a sheep named Tina available at OFFF! My lucky day. I blended and dyed the Dorset Horn with kid Mohair and Mulberry Silk into 7 different colors comprising my Bitter Herb colorway…I'm thrilled with the heathered results.

Dorset Horn is a conservation breed with a dense, resilient fleece great for socks, mittens, hats and everyday wear. I blended it with local kid mohair and silk/silk noil to give extra strength, shine, and some tweedy texture to the roving and resulting yarn. I'm so thrilled with how it turned out and it will keep your feet warm all winter (it would make a great hat or gloves too 😉). 🧦
